In 2013, I was laid off from my dream job—six months pregnant.
I was a tenure-track college art professor, and (shocker) there were absolutely no jobs in sight.
But I had to make money. So, I started a business.
I thought being my own boss would give me the freedom and flexibility I craved.
Boy, was I wrong.
I found myself in a constant cycle of feast or famine, where sales only happened if I was constantly showing up. I basically built another 9-5 for myself.
